Paigah Tombs, Hyderabad, India

The Paigah left an indelible mark on the architecture of Hyderabad. Palaces, mansions, and even graveyards! One of the finest examples of Indo-Islamic architecture with Moorish influences, this unusual synthesis is the final resting place of generations of Paigah nobles. Graves of Asman Jah and Begum Khurshid Jah being the most prominent of all. These graves were inlaid with semi-precious stones.

The 18th-century tombs are renowned for their canopies, floral designs, and trellis marble fences. Lattice panels and polished stucco work adorn the walls. Marble inlay work and repetitive non-geometric patterns are its unique signature. With four separate graveyard clusters and a mosque within, a loyal caretaker attends to this site.
